Network Marketing And Golf – Part 2

July 3, 2008

So I went out and played another round of golf the other day, with my partner as well as another two-some. The front nine didn’t go as planned. Even though I was hitting fantastic drives, after the first nine holes I was nine strokes behind. I quickly realized that it’s not the first hit that counts. I went from elation to frustration and back again.

On the back nine I recovered by ten strokes and won the match by one. Why? Because I played each new hole like it was the first. New hole, new game. Even if I hadn’t won, the thrill of recovery would have been enough. And it helped that my short game was tip top that day.

Network Marketing is like that. If you don’t give up and you try again by giving it your best and not beating yourself up over the last shot, you get better at it. If you can measure what it was that steered you wrong and correct that, you improve immensely. If you concentrate on the aspects that you’re good at, then you can improve on your weaknesses.

Controlling your emotions is a part of golf that everyone has to learn eventually. Only you can control your body, your allignment and your accuracy and the same goes for your mouth! It’s hard to not let a few choice words fly out when you’ve hit an appalling shot. But when you do, you win the respect of the other players and yourself.

Learning how to build your network marketing business takes time and effort. Play through to the end and you’ll find it the most rewarding experience you’ve ever had.

How is Golf like Network Marketing?

June 27, 2008

I’ve been thinking about this analogy for some time now.  The other day when I hit a birdie hole, it occured to me that though not all holes are birdies, they all CAN be.  If I had given up a few holes before that, I never would have had the pleasure of getting that birdie.  After that birdie I parred the next 2 holes.  It changed my whole attitude.  I finished up by winning the game by 5 strokes, to someone that I very rarely beat.

Network Marketing is so much like golf.  It takes practice.  You sometimes find yourself in the bushes, in the sand, or even in oblivion.  But once in a while you get a par, or a birdie, or (hasn’t happened to me yet) even an eagle!

Now, even when you end up in the bushes or on the beach, you eventually get it in the hole.  You may not be happy about how many strokes it took you to get there but you GOT there.  And you may have learned something along the way.  Like how NOT to hit it.  Or how ot take your time and set up the shot.  Maybe you learned how to adjust your shoulders, your feet or your follow through.

Sometimes you just have to forget that shot and start new.  New hole, new game.

Isn’t Network marketing like that?  OK, so you blew your first call or you lost your first prospect.  It’s a game of numbers.  It would be great to get a hole in one, but that’s really rare.   There are many golf pros who NEVER get a hole-in-one.  And there are many Network Marketers who never experience a hole-in-one with their business either.  They become successful because they keep on playing and they never give up no matter how many strokes they take.  And they keep on learning by playing again and again.

The pars and the birdies will keep them coming back.  But if you don’t play, you never improve.  You have to make adjustments along the way.  And sometimes you have to ask for guidance from someone who knows how to play well.  Don’t be afraid to ask.  One simple adjustment can make a huge difference with your business too.

How do you get targeted leads?

June 24, 2008

The best way to generate targeted leads for your Ambit Energy business or any business for that matter is with your own splashpage.  You can advertise anywhere you want and using your splashpage link, your leads will opt in personally.  Let your aweber autoresponder do the work.

When advertising in newspapers however, be sure to use a domain address that is redirected to your splashpage.  I’ll talk more about newspaper ads in my next post.

Your ad has to tell them just enough to want to click the splashpage link.  The splashpage has to tell them enough to want to investigate further by completing the form.   The rest should be passive.  My advice is to call only if they choose “Please call ASAP” on the form.  Otherwise, give them time to watch the video and read your emails.  They WILL contact you if the interest is strong enough.

Don’t ever stop advertising!  That, along with patience is the key.  Your business won’t explode overnight but it will grow consistently if you set aside a reasonable budget as well as a time schedule for getting your ads out.  Try to post at least one ad a week and expect to spend about $100 a month.  You can spend more of course, but that depends on you and what you expect from yourself.

The leads you generate have value to you as long as they are active targeted leads.  Don’t worry that they have not joined yet.  Some will in time.  Keep the lines of communication open and be sure to respond quickly when someone does contact you with questions.

Why Passive Advertising Works for Ambit Energy Business

June 23, 2008

We’ve all been inundated with opportunities that apply the hard sell techniques, the hype, the urgency to join now and the like.

Using a splashpage lets people take their time getting the info and it allows them to choose for themselves when and if they want direct communication with you.  If you have effective letters set up in your aweber autoresponder, then educating your prospects happens automatically.  What can be easier?

This is my favorite way to get details and the way that I use to promote my Ambit Energy business successfully.   In 6 months I sponsored 44 consultants personally without making a single outbound follow up call.  Prospects call ME.

Of course, in order for this method to be effective down the line, you have to have a way that your team can duplicate what you do.  Doing the set-up for them is the key since the learning curve for most is what will stop them dead in their tracks.  This is what I do… from the splashpage to the autoresponder.  A team member simply starts advertising their splashpage link and the rest happens automatically.  It really works to generate the targeted leads you need.  And it really does duplicate itself.

I’ll be sharing more about this in upcoming posts.
